Weekly Recreation Report – April 29, 2016

The Whitewood Slo-Pitch League is entering its 3rd season with games beginning on Friday May 6th. The league is looking to add one more team to play on Friday nights to increase the league to 6 teams in total. Please contact the rec office at 735-4415 ASAP if you want to be that 6th team. Any individuals looking to get added to a team should also contact the rec office and you will be paired up with a team captain.

The Whitewood Fun Run is coming this June! The race committee has been meeting regularly organising a 2.5k, 5k and 10k fun run on the morning of Sunday, June 26th. Your registration gets you a ton of goodies including a race shirt, medal, pancake breakfast and an entry into all our door prizes. Registration is done online through the runningroom.ca and is $35 for adults, and $20 for youth under 18 years of age.

Tickets are still available for the April 29th production of “How I Met Your Mummy”. This is the 16th year our local community drama group has been performing in Whitewood and they want to see as many people out as they can. Tickets can be purchased by contacting Donna Beutler at 735-7976.

The weather has been cooperating and I’m happy to report that our ball diamonds are ready to use for the season! Whitewood is proud to have two fully-fenced competition ball diamonds with dugouts, one with scoreboard and shale infield. If you are interested in using the ball diamonds please note that regularly scheduled minor ball, senior fastball and slo-pitch takes precedence. If you wish to get booked onto the diamond’s schedule contact the recreation office at 735-4415. There is no cost to use the ball diamonds for games and practices. Tournament rentals are $100 for one day, $150 for two days.

Until next week
