Weekly Recreation Report – May 27, 2016

The 3rd annual Ringleader Roller Girls Block Party tournament is coming up on June 4th and 5th at the Whitewood Community Centre. Competing this year are the Weyburn Strait Jackettes, Winnipeg Bombshell Brawlers, Saskatoon Killa Bees, Moose Jaw Jawbreakers, Swift Current Redneck Betties and the Rebelles of Rocky View (Airdrie, AB). First game is Saturday at 9am and continues all day until 9pm. The first game on Sunday is at 10am with the finals at 3pm. Our local skaters are a part of the Weyburn Strait Jackettes and there is sure to be a ton of great competition all weekend.

There is one last weekend to sign up and ensure a t-shirt for the Whitewood Fun Run/Walk. The t-shirt deadline is officially extended by one week. Sign up by May 30th and you will receive a race shirt, finisher medal, breakfast and entry into all the door prizes. To register, head on over to and search for the Whitewood Fun Run. The cost is $35 for adults, and $20 for youth under 18 years of age. This non-competitive event starts at 8am on the morning of June 26th.

The swimming pool is looking great after its facelift so what better time to buy your season pass then today? Information is available on the Town of Whitewood website regarding lessons, passes and special events. A family pass for the 2016 season is $180 and a single pass is $80. If you need more information or want to get your passes, contact the rec office at 735-4415.
