Weekly Recreation Report – January 17, 2014
Saturday January 18th is Minor Hockey Day in Whitewood! We are hosting five games from Pre-Novice to Atom starting at 9am. All proceeds from the day go to support minor hockey in our community and keeping kids healthy and active. Game times are 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm and 5pm with teams coming from Kipling, Langenburg, Churchbridge, Esterhazy and Melville!
Public skating is being offered an extra 3 days per week in 2014. Besides our regular times on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, we now have skating on Monday’s at 7:30pm, Saturdays at 3:30pm and Sundays at 3:30pm. Come and enjoy a relaxing skate at the Whitewood rink.
Mom and Baby yoga has been running on Wednesday mornings the past two months and we will be offering a new 5 week session starting January 29th. It costs $50 for 5 sessions and classes will be in the curling rink lobby starting at 10:30am. Make sure you bring a yoga mat and blanket for your baby. Anyone is welcome to attend and you can contact Kate Leepart for more information (akleepart@gmail.com).
Besides Mom and Baby yoga, I am in the process of setting up a Zumba/Yoga class for one evening a week starting in February. Keep an eye on this column in the coming weeks for more details such as cost, time and dates.
Minor hockey teams are just scheduling playoff games now. Keep up to date on exactly when each team plays by visiting www.townofwhitewood.ca/arena/ for the most up to date schedule. As well, with more games being scheduled some minor hockey parents may have extra kitchen shifts for January and February. Please look at the schedule to ensure you don’t miss a shift!
Until next week,
