About Whitewood

Welcome to Whitewood, Saskatchewan, known as the Crossroads Community, where the world truly passes by our door every day! Our name comes from the intersection of two major highways: the Trans Canada Highway and Saskatchewan Highway #9. For a complete welcome, click here to access the “Welcome to Whitewood” section from the drop-down menu in the “About Whitewood” section.

By 1882, the Town of Whitewood, Assiniboia, had become a major stop on the new Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR).  The Town, named for the clumps of white poplar in the area, grew steadily and was officially incorporated in 1892.
